Package Pricing and Availability Attributes on Package Details Tab

Available when the RATES > PACKAGE PRICING AND AVAILABILITY ATTRIBUTES application parameter is set to Y and the Redemption check box is not selected on the Package Header, Minimum and Maximum value fields can be specified for the number of Nights and Persons for each specified date range.

When configuring packages using the Package Pricing and Availability Attributes, keep in mind the following rules:

Both the Min. and Max fields for both the Nights and Persons must have values defined for them. Only the Min and Max values for either the Nights or Persons cannot be specified.
The Min and Max values cannot be left blank if a value has been defined for one or more of the fields. A numeric value must be entered. All of the fields can remain blank.
The Min/Max range for either Nights or Persons can be the same as long as the other has its range
There must be 1 record for each date range that has no Min/Max Nights and Min/Max Persons defined and this record will serve as a default when a reservation does not qualify to get a package based on any of the other package details sets that are based on Min/Max Nights and Min/Max Persons for the reservation date range. OPERA will automatically create such record when configuring package details.
Validation for a reservation will be completed on a combination of the additional attributes.
- The Stay Date falls between the Start Date and End Date of the package AND
- No of Nights fall between the Min/Max Nights value range AND
- No of Persons fall between the Min/Max value range.
  Note: When package details records are configured, each record must have at least one of the aspects i.e.; Date Range, Min/Max Night range and Min/Max persons range, different so that every package details record can be uniquely identified and there is no complete overlap. While configuring package details record, if OPERA identifies that the record overlap occurs based on either Date Range, Min/Max Night range or Min/Max persons range, user will be prompted if automatic adjustment should take place and if they select Yes, then the current record being added will be saved and existing overlapping record will be removed.

Valid and Invalid Configuration Examples based on the rules above

Set 1: Valid - Conforms to all rules listed.

Set 2: Invalid - In this case, the Nights min/max overlaps and the persons overlap between the two sets for the same date range. So a reservation with 2 nights and 3 persons can fall in either of the ranges (Set 1 and Set 2).

In this case Package configuration will automatically adjust the package details records if user select Yes to the prompt and the latest record will be saved i.e.; set 2 in this case.

Set 3: Valid - All values are blank, and if the reservation does meet the attributes for Set 1, OPERA would then pick up the default package detail for this date range.

Result: The reservation would get the package price of 40.00 from Set 1 as it satisfies the Date Range, the number of nights are between 0 and 2, and the number of persons are between 0 and 4.

Package Quantity Factoring Scenarios

If the package was setup with a Per Person calculation rule, then the package quantity will be 4.
If the package was setup with a Per Adult calculation rule, then the package quantity will be 2.
If the package was setup with a Per Child calculation rule, then the package quantity will be 2.
If the package was setup with a Flat Rate or Per Room calculation rule, then the package quantity will be 1.

Reservation B

3 Nights, 4 Persons

Arrival: 01/05/2011

Departure: 01/10/2011

Adults: 2

Children: 2

Result: The reservation would get the package price of 90.00 from Set 6 as it satisfies the Date Range, the number of nights are between 3 and 7, and the number of persons are between 0 and 4.

Reservation C

20 Nights, 2 Persons

Arrival: 01/05/2011

Departure: 01/25/2011

Adults: 2

Result: This reservation would get the default package price of 50.00 from set 3 as it does not satisfy any other sets, because the number of nights i.e.; 20 does not fall in any configured Min / Max Nights for any of the sets above.

Note: The Package Detail Exceptions section does not automatically adjust overlapping date ranges. Also there will be no default record per date range without min/max night and persons. The default record from the normal package details section will be referred to.
