Understanding the Points System
Once the Ownership>Revenue Pooling application function is set to Y, the points calculation system is available and points are automatically calculated. The points system allows multiple records to be configured, allowing a property to allocate points for unit elements or any other item that is determined to be of value. Points are calculated based on a unit element and multipliers (the quantity of an element that a unit possesses) that are assigned to the contract.
For example, for Hotel A, which participates in Revenue Pooling, the point values are as follows:
Element |
Points |
Bedroom |
10 points per room |
Parking Space |
2 points per space |
Ocean View |
1 Point |
Therefore, points can be assigned to a unit in Hotel A as follows:
The multiplier also allows the ability to give fractional credits to the value of items. For example, a two-bedroom unit may only increase the point value by a factor of 1.2, rather than 2.
Statements and possibly other printed media provide a description of the elements and multipliers to explain point allocation, and how funds are distributed.
