BAR Based Rates
(Available in PMS and ORS.)
Note: The Rates>Best Available Rate Type application setting must be set to Best BAR By Day to make this BAR Based feature available.
Note: When booking reservations in OPERA using Best Best Available Rate (Best BAR) or a dependent rate (based off of BBAR), OPERA will record the BAR rate code and the amount of the first night for tracking purposes.
Note: A rate code cannot be selected as a BAR Based rate code and at the same time have a rate code configured in the Dynamic Base Rate Base Rate field.
Note: A rate code cannot be selected as a BAR Based rate code and at the same time have a rate code configured in the Advanced Dynamic Base Rate Base Rate field.
Note: BAR Based Rates can be configured for specific dates for the Rate Code on the Rate Detail Tab when the following criteria is met:
- Rates>Best Available Rates application function is set to Y.
- Rates>Advanced Dynamic Base Rates application functions are set to Y
- Rates>Best Available Rate Type is set to BEST BAR BY DAY
- Rates>BAR Applied to Rate Detail application parameter is set to Y.
- Rates>BAR Details Display Option application parameter is set to Y.
- Apply BAR check box is selected on the Rate Detail Tab.
See BAR Applied to Rate Detail (Advanced Dynamic Base Rates) for details
Note: If the Rates>Show Add Separate Line Pkgs to Rates on Rate Query application parameter is set to Y, OPERA ignores packages configured as Add Rate Separate Line when calculating BAR Based rate codes. For example, BAR3 is configured for 100. BAR3 has Add Rate Separate Line packages totaling 65. WEBDEAL is configured as -10% of BAR with its own Add Rate Separate Line packages totaling 50. When running a rate query, WEBDEAL is 140 (calculated as 100 - 10% +50). The 65 Add Rate Separate Line package on BAR3 is ignored.
A rate amount can be based on the Best Best Available Rate (Best BAR) that applies to a stay date. In this case, the Best BAR rate code for the stay date becomes the base rate code.
Note: Room types assigned to the BAR rate code may be different from the room types assigned to the BAR based rate code. Rate details for the BAR based rate code will only populate the rate query for those room types defined on the BAR based rate code's rate header.
If the Compare with Rate Detail check box is selected for a rate code marked as BAR Based on the More tab (this is the default) and rate details are defined on the Rate Detail tab, these rate detail values are to be considered the maximum values for the rate code if the BAR be higher. If the best BAR rate amount (after the base calculation) is greater than the amount specified on the rate details for the BAR Based rate code for that date and number of persons, the amount specified on the rate details will be returned by the availability search. When the Compare with Rate Detail check box is un-selected, no comparison of the best BAR amount is made against the rate details.
(A maximum 1 Adult value is required on the rate details for a rate code that has been marked as BAR Based when the Compare with Rate Details check box is selected.)
Note: Negotiated rates can be added to rate codes that are BAR or BAR-based.
The rate code being marked as BAR Based must be of the same currency as the rate codes marked as BAR.
A rate code marked as BAR Based of itself cannot be marked as a BAR rate code.
Example
The hurdle for a Twin room is $261 for today. The BAR Based rate is set to the following:
Amount: 10 Percent
Rounding: None
Compare with Rate Detail is selected.
Default to Highest BAR is selected.
Result: The BAR Based rate amount calculation is for the highest BAR in the system (BAR1=$300) + 10% = $330.
