Master and Sub Allocation/Block Space Overbooking
OPERA S&C provides space overbooking for events that are linked to the same Master Allocation or Master Block. A Master Allocation or Master Block can hold the space for the entire span of the group booking. Users can block space for the specific event for each Sub Allocation or Sub Block without concern that the space will be booked in between with other non-affiliated events. This functionality could give hotels more of an advantage when competing with larger conference centers.
Prerequisites
Overview
- Overbooking is allowed for events on Master Blocks/Master Allocations and if the BLOCK ID is the same ID as the event currently holding the space.
- A Master Block/Master Allocation qualifies for its Sub Blocks/Sub Allocations to overbook their space if it was created when the application parameter Catering>ALLOW SPACE OVERBOOKING OF MASTER BLOCKS EVENTS was active.
- The Catering Tab is available for a Master Block/Master Allocation when one of the following application functions is active: Catering>CATERING EVENTS, Blocks>DIARY, or Blocks>CENTRAL DIARY and the application parameter Catering>ALLOW SPACE OVERBOOKING OF MASTER BLOCKS EVENTS is set to Y.
- When a Master Block/Master Allocation ID is populated in Event Search and the New button is selected, the Block Search screen opens with each of the Sub Blocks/Sub Allocations listed. The user selects to which Sub Block/Sub allocation the event should be linked. If the Master Block/Master Allocation has a Catering Status, it is included in the list of blocks displayed in the Block Search screen so that the user can select it to attach an event.
- The Details button is visible in the Business Block screen for a Master Block. When selected, the Details button opens the Business Block Revenue Type Consolidation screen for that Block ID.
- The Events button on the Sub Block and Sub Allocations screen when selected the Event Search Screen appears displaying all the events for the Master Block/Master Allocation and its Sub Blocks/Sub Allocations. The button New from Event Search will give the choice to select the Master Allocation or its Sub Allocations, or the Master Block and its Sub Blocks.
- The Event Search screen lists all events linked to the Master Allocation/Master Block and its Sub Allocations/Sub Blocks.
